Did you watch the olympics? It kind of restored some faith in humanity for me and maybe a little bit in our country. It was so awesome to see all of those people come together and participate in sports for their country. Despite wars raging, people being displaced from their countries, and so many people struggling throughout out the world, the games went on to provide some hope. This is why I have always loved sports for the camaraderie, the sportsmanship, heart, hustle, teamwork, work ethic, all of the lessons that are taught when you play a sport. My grandfather exposed me to a lot of sports as a kid. We would play so many games. Basketball, baseball, football, tennis, badminton, ping pong, and running were the main things we did when I was growing up. I became an athlete in high school playing football, wrestling, and track and field and it helped me through a lot of difficult times. It gave me an outlet to channel the boundless energy I had and also to dissipate any frustration with life. Sports can be something to focus on to give you a lift sometimes. While I did injure my back for the first time playing football, all of the life lessons I learned made it worth it for me. Being an athlete helped to shape a lot of things that I use in my business and life today. Not giving up, having determination, strong work ethic, working together with others, and so many more traits can be learned from sports.

There were so many cool moments of athletes supporting one another at the games but I think my favorite was in gymnastics which is one of the most popular olympic sports. The US had a stacked team led by the GOAT Simone Biles who was already the greatest before she did anything at this olympics. Not just for her accolades but also for how much she has done to support mental health awareness in athletes and the perseverance she has shown. At the last olympics in Tokyo she developed a phenomenon called the "twisties" where she became unaware of where she was in space when flipping or twisting. This is really dangerous for a gymnast and she showed so much courage to bow out from most of the events after that occurred. She was under so much pressure and it got to her. She showed her humanity and it was beautiful. Then there was Jordan Chiles her friend who like Simone was a victim of the sexual abuse scandal that rocked US gymnastics with Larry Nassar. In 2019 she wanted to quit gymnastics but Simone invited her to train at her gym in Texas instead. Simone mentored her and helped her both mentally and physically to become the person and gymnast she is today. Then there's Rebecca Andrade from Brazil who if she wasn't around at the same time as Simone would be the best gymnast in the world. Her story is incredible coming from a poor village in Brazil and then overcoming three ACL surgeries on her knees to finally claim gold on the floor routine event. At the medal ceremony, Simone and Jordan bowed down to her to show respect and it was so cool to see! I acknowledge that there is very much a corporate agenda when it comes to sports and the olympics but at the same time there are so many uplifting and genuine moments that happen that can show humanity at its finest.

I saw so many cupping marks on athletes at the games. I remember in 2016 when Michael Phelps had the cupping marks at the Rio games. after that, so many people were interested in cupping and what it could do.
